From Emmy-nominated ‘Euphoria’ to the intriguing methods on ‘The Goop Lab’, here are the beauty shows that should be on your must-watch list!

Euphoria

Aside from relatable high-school drama, this HBO Original teen show made a buzz when its glitter-heavy makeup looks, by head makeup artist Doniella Davy, inspired many to do their own version of Jules’ (played by Hunter Schafer) ombre-eye shadows and Maddy’s (Alexa Demie) gem-studded eye liners. Davy’s realistic depiction of makeup trends during the era of Instagram and Twitter was spot on and helped further carry the vision of  Euphoria’s creator, Sam Levinson on the life and struggles of every day American teens.

Pose

If you’ve heard of fashion-forward actor Billy Porter then you’ll definitely know ‘Pose’ – the Netflix series centring on New York’s budding drag and ballroom culture in the ‘80s and early ‘90s. Watch as the main characters compete in categories like Royal Family and Snow Ball and unleash their most fabulous and eccentric makeup to match their oh-so-magnetic fashion.

The Goop Lab with Gwyneth Paltrow

Psychedelic psychotherapy? Vampire facial? Actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness and lifestyle brand, Goop has been synonymous with controversy since its inception, with instances that include its sale of vaginal jade eggs that claim to balance hormones and a psychic vampire repellant that ward off bad juju. Whether you believe in them or not, ‘The Goop Lab’ series’ exploration on unconventional healing and challenging wellness issues are definitely binge-watch material!

(Un)well

From its very first episode on essential oils, ‘Unwell’ is not your ordinary wellness show as it puts a magnifying glass on the cash-grabbing wellness industry and question whether those adopting ‘natural living’ are truly getting well. Based on interviews with entrepreneurs, medical practitioners and former believers, the series expands on topics like bee sting therapy and drinking breast milk to bulk up some muscle. Definitely give it a watch if you’re into alternative, holistic ways to getting healthy!

Glow Up: The Next Makeup Star

A personal favourite from this show-stopping competition for amateur and aspiring makeup artists would be the episode when the challenge is to emulate the theatrical makeup for ‘The Lion King’ on stage. Don’t miss out on the stunning and skilled makeup looks as the contestants take on exciting tasks from backstage at fashion week to the shooting of a TV medical drama.
