There you have it, folks. Another four weeks of lockdown. Here’s how you can better survive it this time!
Last Saturday, we were surprised with the news of yet another round of lockdown. Sure, it was expected, but with it being so close to the end of the year already, we were kinda wishing for a miracle. Granted, the rules of this CMCO aren’t as strict as the lockdown we had back in March as you still get to go out within your district, however, the partial isolation, WFH stress and financial instability can get to you. Choose to look on the bright side and use this down time to pamper and reconnect with what makes you motivated and happy. Here are some suggestions on what you could do:
Listen to self-affirming podcasts
You can change your life by changing your thought patterns. That mindset shift is not going to happen overnight, but along the way, you’ll find some affirmations that really speak to you. Affirmation Babe covers a variety of topics for different situations. Feeling down about your career? In her ‘Job Interview Confidence Affirmations’ you’ll find some encouraging gems including this line, “In case you need a reminder: I am qualified and capable!”. Say them aloud five times and surround yourself with positive thoughts all day.
Keep clean with gentle products
With COVID-19 cases averaging a thousand per day, it’s more important than ever to take good care of our personal hygiene. While hand sanitisers and surface disinfectants are now an essential, people with eczema, dermatitis and dry and sensitive skin end up getting the short end of the stick because of how harsh the chemicals in them can be. Thankfully, B&B Labs have come up with its Hygiene Series, which contain WHO-approved and recommended active ingredients that are soft and caring on the skin, all the while being tough on bacteria and viruses. In this range, there’s also a hand serum (RM28) made with 100% natural essential oils, including geranium, peppermint, lavender, and eucalyptus that are hypoallergenic yet killing 99.9% of germs, giving your hands the extra care it needs.
Stay well hydrated
As micro nutritionist, Valérie Espinasse said here, drinking at least 2 litres of water everyday is important for your skin and body’s health. But if you hate drinking plain water, let Island Chill change your mind. This natural drinking water is sourced from Fiji’s natural aquifers and contains no additives. It has a unique and distinct taste and even achieved the highest-ranking 3-star superior taste award from the International Taste and Quality Institute for seven consecutive years. Each bottle contains the island’s highest natural silica content (for bottled water), which is known for promoting healthy hair, radiant skin, strong nails and bone growth.
Soothe your skin
Having spent almost all year wearing face masks, we know all too well how irritating they are to the skin. Aside from changing to reusable masks, take the time to really pamper your skin with healing products. A renowned dermatology brand from South Korea, Cellapy’s A.Repair range contains plant stem cell culture and multiple active ingredients to help soothe skin that’s been sensitised by external irritation like a face mask. Picks to look out for: the A.Repair Cream (RM89.90) is a nourishing day cream that calms sensitive skin and improves elasticity. For a more lightweight texture, pick the Cellapy A.Repair Light range, which delivers more moisture with low pH for reduced irritation. Its Light Cream (RM89.90) contains four types of ceramides and five types of hyaluronic acid to provide intense hydration and strengthen weakened skin barrier.
Feel like yourself
Sometimes all it takes to feel normal during the CMCO is dressing up and putting on a little makeup for a boost of confidence. For that ‘my skin, but better look,’ check out Nudestix’s Smokey Nude Glow Kit (RM305), containing an array of easy-to-use products in universal natural shades to suit all skin tones.
Use the Magnetic Nude Glimmers in 24K Goddess for an all-over dewy glow. The Magnetic Plush Paint in Saint Tropez in a cool rose-nude shade multi-tasks as a cheek blush, eyeshadow and soft lip color. The Magnetic Luminous Eye in Rustique & Immortal are 4-in-1 eye pencils that can be used as an eyeshadow, eyelid primer, eyeliner or highlighter for an all-natural shimmer. The Gel Color Lip in Tay Tay is a hydrating, gel-type colour thats provides great payoff without being sticky. And finally, the Intense Matte Lip in Fringe is a warm-toned, brownish-orange creamy matte pencil that’s perfect to use as a lipstick, lipliner or cheek tint.
