We picked up some very valuable beauty tips from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley using some of her favourite Hourglass products.
Last Friday, we were invited to Hourglass’ Unlocked VIP Makeup Experience, featuring the brand’s Director of Global Artistry Marc Reagan and the one and only Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, along with special guests Jasmine Tookes, Kate Bock and Chriselle Lim, to celebrate the launch of the new Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara. Needless to say, we picked up some very valuable beauty tips from the English Rose herself using some of her favourite Hourglass products. Now, we want to share them with you too. So go ahead and read on!
“I love the Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow (in Smoke) cos I’m not great at doing an eye look and they way that I use this is by dipping my finger into the pot and roughly pushing it onto my eyelids first. I find that with the formulation, it’s best to use my fingers. Then, I’m going to perfect it with a brush after.”
“What I love about these eyeshadows as well is that you can build the intensity up so you can really get in there and continue to add as you like.”
The moulded brush of the Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara is really what makes it amazing. It has perfectly-spaced bristles that pull and weld the product between them as you use sweeping motions. What I love about this mascara is the instant lift, definition and length that it gives my lashes. And I find that it really, truly is like wearing eyelash extensions.”
Fun fact: The H with the bunny on the tube signifies the Unlocked collection and this mascara is the first permanent addition to the Unlocked collection. 5% of the profit from this collection is donated to Nonhuman Rights Project.
“The trick with this mascara is long, sweeping motions as opposed to wiggling it back and forth. You really want to slowly apply it and allow yourself to coat every single eyelash.”
Marc’s tip: “For those who have straighter lashes, you definitely want to curl your eyelashes first cos the mascara is going to extend the length but maintain that curl. What you want is maximum lift so that it really looks like an eye-opening effect as you can see on Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.”
“A great way to complement the mascara is to use Mechanical Gel 1.5 eyeliner (in Obsidian). It’s quite tricky and makes me sneeze, but basically, I line the upper waterline on the inside, so you definitely want to be gentle. I use little wiggling strokes underneath the eye to make the eyelashes pop and define the eye shape even further.”
“Next, I use the Ambient Lighting Blush in Diffused Heat. I like to smooth it all over the skin. Whatever’s left on the brush, I like to run it on the bridge of the nose and then take a little eyeshadow brush and pop that onto the socket beneath the brows. I find that this just pulls all the colours together on your face and complements any eyeshadow look.”
“I have one of Ambient Lighting Palette in the bottom of every handbag. I love that this complements all of the Ambient Lighting powders and I like to sweep this all across my complexion, and this is going to give me that luminous, sort of lit-from-within skin. I just love how it blends all those powders; you can correct with it, touch up throughout the day, and it’s going to give you that silky, luminous glow, which I’m always trying to achieve.”
“My last product is my signature Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Lipstick in You Make Me. These lipsticks are like no other. I love it cos the slim line makes it fit perfectly onto the lips. And I can really define and shape my lips in an easy way. I use the edge to line my lip line. And this formulation has got such intense pigment in it and is so comfortable to wear. This colour is like the perfect terracotta nude that can take your look from day to night. I like to push it in with my finger during the day just to take the shine away and make it undone, and in the evening, I let it be really shiny and beautiful. And sometimes, after I use my finger, I apply the leftover on the apples of my cheeks as well cos it’s such a beautiful colour for blush.”
