Think Insta-worthy zebra-print brows and romantic, punk-inspired makeup from Paris Fall 2020/21 Haute Couture Collection.
The Paris Fall 2020/21 Haute Couture Fashion Week had gone digital for the very first time and received mixed feelings from its regular viewers. However, no one can deny the next-level display of creativity and craftsmanship. Aside from the short films produced to boundary-pushing designs, there were also some remarkable makeup looks. Here are those that we feel deserve a mention here at TBD.
Queen of hearts
At Viktor and Rolf, makeup artist Mathias van Hoof created the same look for three different collections that symbolised a different state of mind. As you see here, the cheekbones are sculpted with red makeup and diffused lightly with a hint of pink. It’s dramatic draping done right!
Animal craze
At Guo Pei, not only were models given black-rimmed eye makeup, their brows were also painted artistically with a zebra print. This was done to match the collection titled ‘Savannah’ that’s inspired by the grasslands’ animals that are full of life and vitality .

Punk princess
Over at Chanel, Creative Director Virginie Viard’s collection is said to be inspired by “Eccentric princess, the kind that Karl Lagerfeld like to accompany at parties of at ‘Le Palace’”. To complement the opulent and sophisticated designs, Lucia Pica, Global Makeup designer for Chanel created a very strong and defined browny-red lip and a very thin elongated eyeliner going across the top of the eye. The skin was kept transparent and luminous with accents of highlight on the top of the lid and high on the cheekbones.

Check out some of the products used to create the look. Clockwise from top left:
Palette Essentiel in No.170 Beige Intense, Rouge Coco in No.494, Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint, Natural Finish Loose Powder, Le Crayon Levres Longwear Lip Pencil in No. 194 and Baume Essentie Multi-use Glow Stick in Rosee.
